Questions, Pricing & Scheduling

Here are some of our most frequently asked questions. You may contact us if you have any questions or if you are interested in scheduling an appointment to discuss a project.

How durable will my finished walls be?

Your finished walls will be as durable as any other painted wall. In some cases, even more so. Expect the normal wear of a painted wall. The textured appearance of the finish can “hide” nicks, fingerprints and other imperfections. Using soap and warm water for clean ups. I recommend the Mr.Comet Magic Erasers to all of my customers. There are also options to increase the durability of a faux finished wall which we can discuss further.

Why a painted finish as opposed to wallpaper?

Wallpaper was originally developed to mimic painted finishes. Nowadays, a quality wallpaper can cost significantly more than a painted finish. Add to that the cost of installation and the cost and headache of eventually changing the wallpaper, and there’s no comparison. Painted finishes can be painted over.

How much does your work cost?

Our faux finishes are charged by the square foot and start at $2.25 per sq. foot and go up to approximately $12.00 per sq. foot for the more elaborate designs such as faux stone and Venetian plasters. Pricing for murals and hand painted artwork is determined by the artist according to the complexity and size of the project. There is a $400 minimum on all projects excluding furniture.

How long does it take to complete a project?

Most faux finishes can be completed over the course of 2-4 days depending on the style of finish. We prefer to work in consecutive days whenever possible so that we may complete your project in a timely manner. The timeframe for murals and hand painted artwork depends on the complexity and size of the design. Smaller murals can be painted over the course of a few days while larger and more intricate mural projects may take several weeks to complete. If you have a project that needs to be completed within a certain timeframe we recommend that you place yourself on our client list early.

Do the walls need to be prepped for painting?

Yes. For faux finishes & murals the areas should be freshly painted prior to any work being started. We recommend premium paints in either an eggshell or satin finish. Flat wall paint is not recommended for faux finishes . We will advise you as to what color the area should be base painted in after you have selected your design.

Should we move furniture prior to work being started?

Yes. Furniture will need to be moved at least 4 feet away from the areas being painted. Anything on the walls, windows, or ceiling that will interfere with the painting process will need to be removed prior to work being started. This includes window treatments, pictures, outlet covers, etc. On the first day of work we will install drop cloths, tape all areas that need to be protected such as moldings, ceilings, door frames, window frames, etc and we will set up our work station so that we can get started on your project.
